Here are my interesting games on this relatively light Week Three:

1. A&M Consolidated @ Katy.
Significance: this will be a great indicator of whether either team is a state championship contender. Katy needs a win to quell whispers that they might not quite be the Katy of old. A&M Consolidated, with a win, becomes one of the bona fide Big Boys of 5A.

2. LaMarque @ Pearland.
Significance: Pearland gains massive street credibility with a win against a perennial 4A contender. If they don't show well against LaMarque they will be written off as a serious threat in the playoffs.

3. Houston Lamar @ PA Memorial.
Significance: will the real Redskins stand up? We can't figure a team that loses to Aldine and then beats Brenham. This game will help us sort it out. Plus, PAM can demonstrate that they are a contender for the 21-5A title with a win.

4. Lufkin @ Aldine Eisenhower.
Significance: even in an expected loss, can Ike hang around for awhile? They took on Humble and North Shore and didn't fold the tent. If they can do the same with Lufkin, then Ike might be the second best 0-3 team around and a 19-5A title contender.

5. Houston Memorial @ Spring Westfield.
Significance: same as for Ike. Can Memorial hang around and make this interesting? They are out-athleted here but can they fight it out for 48 minutes against one of the state's best? If so, then next week Memorial vs. Ike might be the most interesting game ever between two 0-3 teams.

Good luck everyone.
