SLC, but I do foresee them playing for it all.

Right now, it's SLC until someone knocks them off. SV is 0-2 against SLC and I don't see much of a drop off in the way SLC is playing right now.
SV is playing much better than they usually do at this time of year, but SLC still looks like the team to beat in 5A, along with Lufkin.

How has Riley Dodge looked? He has a hell of a tough act to follow.

I don't care for either team  but I would rather see SV win this one. SLC had a long enough time as state champ. It is time a team that has never won it at least gets one.

he is progressing really well. There is a lot of improvement between the spring and now. He is still not totally in sync with his receivers, but he is getting there. I don't think that McElroy had his timing down until the playoffs last year

A better question might be will SLC be D1 or D2 this year. This probably depends on how good Justin Northwest is.

I think its a variety of things....1)good coaching 2)players that work hard 3)extra practice time due to playoffs 4)facilites 5)1 High school

The whole SLC going D1 or D2 depends on schools like Haltom, Northwest, Colleyville, etc.

when you have receivers like he has to throw to it doesnt take much to get in sync...

and the Oline deserves tons of credit....they are excellent blockers

All our receivers this year seem taller than the ones from last year. These guys seem like they can go up and get a pass. Maybe a step slower than McCay Jacobsen (last years speedster), but then who isn't. I think Tomlin, Cantu, and Cunningham are the top ones.

Everybody asks the secret to SLC. Look no farther than the Oline. In the Southlake Scheme, the Oline have to recognize the threats presented by the Defense and work among themselves on how to neutralize them. The blocking and the plays are signaled in from the sideline for the "Skill" players to adjust to the threats but the Oline have to recognize and neutralize. You have to be smart to be able to do it as quickly as the Oline does. Plus you have no time to take a break. It is, do your job, get back on line, do you job again. The SLC Offense is fast paced and effective with very little time to allow the defense to rest or change personnel. Only a very disciplined and intelligent Oline can perform the tasks that are asked of them.
