I've noticed over the years many brothers have played together or come down a long line of successful ball players in Texas. the people who come to mind are

I have to start with the Moutons...both won rings for Katy.
The McNowns from Jacksonville
The Detmers from SA
The Normans if any of you in West Texas remember them out of Midland Lee
The Amendolas in The Woodlands
The Jacksons from Westside in Houston ( One of whom came off the bench for TCU the other day an sparked a victory. )
The Irons??? McCullough/The Woodlands ?
The McKinneys Stever-starter for the Texans-ClearLake, Seth Starter for Dolphins-Westlake.

Did I leave anyone out ? I noticed the one thing many if not all went on t have a succesful Division1 collegiate career and some if not all the NFL.

Anyone know of anyone else ? Any future family stars out there this year ?

Hope I'm not starting a thread that's been done already.

From SLC, the Chandlers both played in the early 2000s and are now at Iowa. Also, several Saldi boys, sons of Cowboy TE Jay Saldi played for SLC and 1 is at TT now, 1 still playing for SLC.

This would be more of a triple alliance, but Lewisville High School had 3 brothers who all played for our two championship teams. In 93 senior FB Dwayne Brazzell was all state along with his sophmore brother Shannon who also made all state as a LB.
In 96 the younger of the 3, Danielle was a junior all district RB for the Farmers. Shannon had a solid carrerr at TCU while Dwayne went to Tyler JC and never made it out of there. I believe Danielle went to a 1-AA but I may be mistaken.

none are yet household names, but there are multiple ring wearing bros in slc. i may miss some, but agnew, stacy, boydsten, hansen, ford, benoit come readily to mind. most have, will, or are playing at the collegiate level. there are several opportunities for that list to expand if the thing is repeated this year.

Alief Elsik- Salim and Kalief muhammad
The Cavness boys Marshall,Elsik and Taylor?
The Klinglers
The Clements from Huntsville...didnt chuck have a younger brother?
The Jenkins at Langham Creek
the Jacksons(cousins) at Westside.

You also had the Cases at Permian. I know Stoney played in the NFL and I believe Stormy had a good college carrer.

also, does anyone know if Jeremy Hills at Elsik is related to former Elsik ram and UT Olineman Tony Hills?

Hills is HUGE...and just think...he was recruited as a TE.

I know its 4A, but both of the Robertson brothers at Denison were great running backs

TCU had three Schobels from Columbus, Tx who all went on to the NFL.

Matt and Aaron Schobel are brothers. Bo was their cousin.

Pretty good for one family.

Aaron is doing great with the Bills.
Matt with the Bengals.
Bo with the Titans.

I'm going WAY back here but Spring Branch had Phil and Paul Tabor (twins) from the class of 1975. They had lockers next to mine and they were gorgeous!!! Mark Thurmond (SD Padres) had the locker on the other side so I was set for that school year - spent a lot of time at the locker. I'm pretty sure they didn't know that Freshman (me) even existed but I did NOT care! I looked pretty scrawny compared to those "older and more worldly" Senior girls. Anyway, they went on to Oklahoma and then one went to the Chicago Bears and the other went to the NY Giants.

We had several families with like 8-12 kids (the Wymans come to mind immediately) - it was the baby boom generation after all. Bill Wyman and, I believe Jim Wyman as well went to UT. The Achilles boys were there too - Jeff went to TCU but I'm not sure if he played, Jim went to UT I think and there may have been a third one but just can't remember...oh yeah, Jon who was a year younger than me.

Most of these guys are listed in that big huge book called Texas High School Football that came out in the 80's.

Offhand, I can't think of any families at Cy Falls that have left a legacy...except in band. Unless we talk about the Brekkes - there were two, David from last year and Adam from 2002 or 2003. Both very good athletes and high ranking students. I believe they are both going to Columbia in NYC - that's impressive in itself.

What about Chris & Brad Gilbert at Spring Branch? Chris went on to star at UT and played for the Bears, but was most notable for dating Farrah Fawcett at UT!

OMG - forgot them and they only lived 2 blocks from me too! I'm sure there were several others I forgot - shoot one of our coaches was Darrell Tully so there were many "legendary" stories when all was said and done. Only made it to state once but how many never make it at all - and that was when only one team went to playoffs.

and you should have seen them in the cafeteria - that football team could EAT and Jester had really good food back then. My husband, who was the TCU athletic trainer at the time, used to go there for games and they stayed in Jester (it was the athletic dorm AND regular students like me dorm) and he was amazed at the food quality...gotta feed those Longhorns good food I'm telling ya!!!

Father Ernie Koy Sr., from my birthplace (Sealy), three-time All Southwest Conference fullback and a three-time all conference honoree in baseball (UT). Played 5 years in the minors and 5 for the Brooklyn Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Blue Jays from 1938 to 1942. http://www.texassports.com/index.php?s=&url_channel_id=64&change_well_id=17&member_id=611

Son Ernie Koy Jr. from Bellville, running back for the NY Giants, 1965-70. http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/pages/winningtrads/bowlgames/65orange.html

Son Ted Koy, UT running back 1967-69. Second-round draft pick of the Oakland Raiders in 1970, went on to play five seasons with the Raiders and the Buffalo Bills. http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/pages/releases/2003_04/august/082703_11.html

I recall while in kindergarten (1965) watching Bellville beat Katy (then 2A) at Bellville, it seemed that every other set of downs Ted Koy would run for a touchdown with Randy Jinks (Katy/Rice) on his heels and then Randy would run for a touchdown with Ted on his heels. Seems the rest of the teams would just watch them chase each other.

Going back to 1988, Jeff and Jason Myatt played three years together on Dragon teams that only had two playoff losses and captured a state championship.

In West Texas, some key family lines that jump out are:

The Norman brothers- Midland Lee (John, Josh, ?)
The Case brothers- Permian (Stoney, Stormy). Besides having cool names, they each led an undefeated season for Mojo. Stoney in 89 and Stormy in 91. 89 were named national champs. I know there's some debate out there as to which Mojo team was better, 89 or 91.

Wow, great replies everyone. The subject came to mind when..talking about Earl Campbells sons from Westlake with a co-worker. I think the youngest is at San Diego State. And from what I unerstand the oldest was more into track. Not into football after Westlake. I may be wrong

Apologies....How I forgot the Fuuuuuudaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas is beyond me. :D

Lonny23 the Cash brothers were quite a duo. You're right about the rios. Both very good.

Speaking of Brothers..kinda off subject or out of state...has anyone seen a little of the hype surrounding the next Simms kid coming out of Jersey ? I was reading an article of it in High School Football Mag I think it was. UT fans...tell Brown to pass him up !!! I was in Chris Simms corner...until after this weekend I FINALLY realized...he throws an awful lot of INTs
