2008 Outlook:
Bowie shocked its district last season
by going undefeated. The Bulldogs must
replace key talent on defense, but
return several of their top players on
offense from last year. The Bulldogs
will be a threat again this year, but
must contend with an improved district
overall with Westlake, Austin High and
Pflugerville all expected to field good
teams this season. |

reloaded last year and will be ready to
improve this year thanks to returning
experience across the board. Westlake
lost to both Austin High and Bowie last
year, and will be out to reverse those
results this season. Senior RB Ryan
Swope is one of the most dynamic talents
in the state.

2008 Outlook:
Madison
fielded one of the best teams in the
state last year, and somehow managed to
keep things on track despite a rash of
injuries. A drop off year is naturally
expected after graduating such a
talented senior class, but the Mavericks
got big contributions from non-seniors
last year as well. Senior DB-RB Andrew
Green and junior LB Kris Catlin are two
of the top returning players. |

improved district featuring Converse
Judson and Wagner. The Tigers should be
the best Corpus team this year since Ray

Smithson Valley in the area around of
the playoffs. Senior QB Corey Johnson
and senior ILB Breland Robinson are two
of East Central’s best returning

2008 Outlook:
Warren
posted a 10-2 record last year and
return six all-district starters in
2008. The Warriors have gained a
reputation for strong defense, and
senior DT Calvin Howell will help insure
that doesn’t change this season. Howell
is a top Division 1 recuirt. Senior OLB
Tyler Smith and senior DB Joseph Bonugli
add to Warren’s potential. Anyone who
plays consistently good defense will be
tough to beat, and this is a principle
in which Warren has built its young
program. |
