2008 Outlook:
The Rangers return several experienced
players from a team that advanced to the
area round in 2007. Senior RB Jonathon
Miller is one of the best players in
Texas. Naaman Forest has a chance to be
even better in 2008 because of the
returning experience on both sides of
the ball. Naaman Forest’s three losses
last year came by a combined total of 18
points. Lewisville, Mesquite and Plano
West will have the Rangers prepared for
district. |

2008 Outlook:
The Skeeters return eight all-district
players from a 7-5 team last year.
Mesquite’s primary strength will be
defense thanks to several returning
talents from one of last year’s top
units. Senior Luke Halpin steadies the
offense. Mesquite is a tough team to
beat traditionally, and that won’t be
any different this season. |

2008 Outlook:
Temple started 1-3 last year, but
rebounded to win six district games in a
row before losing to eventual state
finalists Pflugerville (34-31) in the
first round of the playoffs. The
Wildcats feature one of the state’s best
rushing attacks, and will be tough to

advanced to the state championship game
in the 4A Division 1 bracket. Cove
emerged as a consistently good 5A team
before moving down to 4A, and return
some key senior talent to build their
effort around in 2008. Senior LB Tanner
Brock is one of the best defenders in
the state. |

2008 Outlook:
The Golden Eagles are never an easy
match-up because of the athletic ability
they churn out on an annual basis.
Forest surprised Lufkin in last year’s
playoffs, and that served as further
proof that this program has the
capability to play with anyone. Forest
has a nice balance of returning
experience overall, and senior RB
Dominic Wilkins is one of the best in
Texas at his position. |

2008 Outlook:
Cy Falls has emerged as one of the
Houston area’s best programs this
decade, and they can’t be overlooked
after posting a 9-3 record in a
rebuilding year after very talented
seniors graduated off the 2005 and 2006
teams. Senior QB Kolby Gray is one of
the top signal callers in the state. If
the new skill talent steps up, this
offense should easily be among the
state’s best in total yardage and points
scored. Defense will determine how good
this team ultimately becomes. Cy Falls
is a tough match-up for anyone due to
their overall athletic ability. |
