2008 Outlook:
Arlington returns
17 starters from a team that barely
missed out on the playoffs last year.
The Colts only had one bad loss (vs.
Bowie), but were competitive in every
other game. Arlington has one of the
state’s top tailbacks in senior Jamal
Nero, and he will be running behind one
of the state’s best offensive lines. The
Colts should improve this year because
of their experience on both sides of the
ball. This is one of the state’s most
experienced teams. |

before falling to Aledo (21-7 score).
Fossil Ridge was previously 5A when the
school first opened. Fossil Ridge was in
its first season under Tony Baccarini
last season. Previous head coach Hal
Wasson took the Southlake Carroll
opening. The Panthers have arguably the
best receiving corps in the state this
season. This is a team capable of making
the playoffs in their new 5A district.
Senior WR Aaron Fisher, senior LB
Brandon Mahoney and senior K Chris
Boswell are three of the potential
all-state selections on this team. |

2008 Outlook:
The Farmers won
games with defense last year while a
young offense learned the ropes.
Lewisville has an experienced offense
this year, and it is the defense that
will be playing catch-up. Seven
returning starters on offense and
returning lettermen on defense give
Lewisville the foundation to be a
potentially dangerous team this season.
The Farmers were competitive in every
game they played last year. Lewisville
will be tough to beat this year if the
defense can pick up where it left off
because the offense should be much
better. |

2008 Outlook:
Irving Mac is always a dangerous team
due to their athletic ability. 13
returning starters make the Cardinals a
definite team to watch this season. The
defense allowed over 20 points a game
last season, but could become one of the
state’s best units this fall due to
senior experience. This is a very fast
and athletic team overall. |

2008 Outlook:
The Warriors played a tough schedule
last year and took their lumps in a
disappointing 3-7 season. South Grand
Prairie played all of their opponents to
close games, and could turn that
win-loss record around dramatically if
they make improvement this fall. Eight
returning starters give the Warriors a
nice base of experience to build 2008’s
effort around. |

2008 Outlook:
Jeff Dicus, previously head coach at 4A
state champions Lake Travis, takes over
a Duncanville program that finished 3-7
last season. The Panthers return 18
starters, all seniors, in 2008. If the
players grasp the new system quickly,
this team has a chance to erase last
year’s bad memories. This very talented
and experienced senior class is capable
of raising a lot of eyebrows this
season. |
