Gridiron Guide 07- Most Improved

* Here are our picks for teams we think could improve significantly on their 2006 performance.

Abilene- The Eagles went 6-4 in 2006 with an inexperienced roster overall and return several key players in 2007.  Abilene looks as strong as they've been since 2004.  A tough non-district will challenge them early, but the Eagles look in good shape to handle it.

Mesquite-  The Skeeters looked like one of the top teams in the Metroplex when Kelly Page was healthy, but noticeably dipped in his absence until things started to roll again later in the season with sophomore starter Luke Halpin.  Look for Mesquite to improved on the 6-4 record, and possibly significantly if they stay healthy.

Aldine Eisenhower- Ike finished 3-7 last year, but played a very young team overall.  The Golden Eagles' junior class is very talented, and Ike could be one of the state's most improved if things start to come together this year.

Alief Elsik- The Rams finished 3-7 in 2006, and return one of the state's best backfields.  There is a handful of players in this senior class who've started since their sophomore season, so Elsik has their most experienced team since 2004.

San Antonio Madison- If the Mavs stay healthy, they should improve on last year's 5-5 record pretty easily.  Madison has one of the state's top running backs, and will be tough to contain.

San Antonio Reagan- Reagan only finished a game better than Madison in district at 6-4 last year, but could be poised for a special 2007 season if they build on the momentum gained in the playoffs.
