4. Richardson (5)
5. Richadson Berkner (3)
6. Dallas White (7)
7. Dallas Samuell (6)
8. Dallas Sunset (8)

Offensive MVP:
WR Jake Oliver, Jr., Jesuit

Defensive MVP:
LB Peter Jinkens, Sr., Skyline
Who’s In:

1. Skyline – Once again, we’re looking at an extremely talented and tested Raider squad. Last year, the smallest margin of victory in district was 13 points and we expect them to be even better this season.

2. Lake Highlands - The district’s second best offense returns their quarterback (Ketchmark), a play-maker (Sunwenghan) and three offensive lineman. Defensively, the Wildcats need to step it up against the better teams on the schedule.

Fighting It Out:

3. Jesuit - Don’t sleep on the Rangers, we’re not. In addition to WR Jake Oliver, they have some top young talent coming through. If the QB position is settled early, look for them to make a run at the #2 spot in the district.

4. Richardson – The Eagles are one of several teams in the district that can finish anywhere from second to fifth. 12 starters return overall, including seven on defense. It will likely come down to their home game against Berkner.

5. Berkner - A tough team to figure out last season. Only notched four wins on the year, but lost four of six by a touchdown or less. Quality defense keeps them in the running for the playoffs every year.

Work to do:

6. White – 10 starters back to build on four win season in ’10
7. Samuell – low on numbers and experience
8. Sunset – needs significant improvement in the trenches

6t. Lakeview Centennial (8)
6t. North Garland (4)

Offensive MVP:
RB Bryan Driskell, Jr., Boyd

Defensive MVP:
DE Jamal Palmer, Sr., Boyd

Who’s In:

1. South Garland - One thing that really sticks out about the Colonels is a strong defense that returns eight starters. Martin, Lake Highlands and Longview found out how tough the defense can be.

2. Garland - The Owls have the defensive talent and experience that could carry them a long way in DE Neroes, LB Miller, LB Spencer, DB Mapps and DB Caldwell. Look for a much improved offense led by QB Seth Russell (Kansas).

3. McKinney Boyd -  Boyd put together a great year in 2010, but need to replace seven starters on each side of the ball. The talent is certainly there to do so with junior RB Bryan Driskell (1300 yds.) and DE Jamal Palmer (Baylor).

4. Rowlett - In games decided by one possession or less, the Eagles were 5-0, three of which came in district play. They’ll need to replace a majority of that winning experience, but shouldn’t be an issue when it’s all said and done.

Work To Do:

5. Naaman Forest - difference makers on the way, but still young
6. Sachse – will be competitive, but rebuilding on defense
7. Lakeview Centennial – WR Jarvis Baxter is the player to watch
8. North Garland – lost multiple close calls last season
McKinney Boyd (9-3, 6-1)
Garland Rowlett (9-3, 6-1)
South Garland (8-4, 5-2)
Garland (7-4, 5-2)
Garland Sachse (5-5, 3-4)

Lakeview Centennial (1-9, 1-6)
North Garland (1-9, 1-6)

1. Longview (2)
2. DeSoto (1)
3. Mesquite Horn (4)
4. Tyler Lee (3)
5. North Mesquite (5)
6. Mesquite (6)

Offensive MVP:
RB Dontre Wilson, Jr., DeSoto

Defensive MVP:
LB Demarkus Lathan, Jr., Longview

Who’s In:

1. Longview - Arguably the toughest non-district slate, but it prepares them very well for district play. The Lobos are full of talent, confidence and tradition. DeSoto and Allen travel to the fortress that is Lobo this year.

2. DeSoto - Once again, absolutely stacked with D1 caliber talent on both sides of the ball. This is a really scary team if the defense can find a way to match the offense’s level.

3. Mesquite Horn - Yet another loaded 11-5A team. The Jags will be turning to youth at the QB position, but the overall talent level should keep them right in the thick of the race.

Fighting It Out:

4. Tyler Lee - The Red Raiders qualified for the playoffs after just two wins overall, but Lee isn’t satisfied with that at all. Expect a highly motivated squad led by electric junior RB LaQuintas Wallace to get them back on track.

5. North Mesquite – The Stallions are talented in their own right and also have their own motivation to draw from. They missed out on the playoffs because of a district loss to Lee.

Work To Do:

6. Mesquite – not quite enough to keep up in this tough district
Longview (10-5, 4-1)
DeSoto (11-3, 4-1)
Mesquite Horn (9-5, 3-2)
Tyler Lee (2-9, 2-3)
North Mesquite (5-5, 2-3)
Mesquite (1-9, 0-5)
1. DeSoto: + 23.6
2. Mesquite Horn: + 9.6
3. North Mesquite: + 1.3

3. Belton (1)
4. Bryan (4)
5. Killeen Ellison (6)
6. Harker Heights (7)
7. Temple (5)
8. Killeen Shoemaker (8)

Offensive MVP:
ATH/QB Orlando Thomas, Sr., Copperas Cove

Defensive MVP:
DT JJ Bynum, Sr., A&M Consolidated

Who’s In:

1. Copperas Cove - The Dawgs are always in the mix for a district championship and this year won’t be any different. The dynamic duo of QB Orlando Thomas and RB Brandon Hamilton will put points on the board in bunches.

2. A&M Consolidated - This is a team in transition under new coaches, but one that also has a high ceiling if everything comes together. The Tigers’ strength lies in the trenches and at running back.

Fighting It Out:

3. Killeen Ellison - The Eagles are flying under the radar, but take note of 12 returning starters (6 off, 6 def) and the fact that they were only six points away from going 5-2 in district last season.

4.
Bryan – Junior dual-threat QB Chris Johnson (6’5 200lbs) will be highly recruited and should come up big for the Vikings. His backfield partner, RB Kevin Jefferson, makes up yet another strong backfield in this district.

5. Harker Heights - After reaching the playoffs in six of their first seven years (2000-2006), the Knights have missed out since. That might change in ’11 with 14 starters back, several top prospects on the line and an experienced QB.

6. Belton – The Tigers really struggled defensively last season and will need to shore up this unit if they are going to nab a playoff spot in a deeper 12-5A.

Work To Do:

7. Temple – expecting improvement under new HC Mike Spradlin
8. Shoemaker – winless in district last season
A&M Consolidated (11-2, 7-0)
Copperas Cove (9-2, 6-1)
Belton (5-6, 5-2)
Bryan (6-5, 4-3)
Killeen Ellison (4-6, 3-4)
Harker Heights (3-7, 2-5)
Temple (1-9, 1-6)

1. Copperas Cove: – 9.6
2. A&M Consolidated: – 2.4
3. Bryan: – 1.8
4. Killeen Ellison: + 0.1

4. Spring DeKaney (2720) *DIV 2
5. Tomball (2876)
6. Klein (3125.5)
7. Spring Westfield (3196)
8. Spring (3493)

How we fared in 2010…
Actual Finish (Projected Finish)

1. Klein Collins (1)
2. Klein Oak (3)
3. Tomball (8 )
4. Klein (5)
5. Spring Westfield (4)
6. Spring Dekaney (6)
7. Klein Forest (2)
8. Spring (7)

Offensive MVPs:
QB Matt Davis, Sr., Forest
RB Trey Williams, Sr., Dekaney
QB Nicky Baratti, Sr., Oak

Defensive MVP:
LB AJ Hilliard, Sr., Klein Oak
Who’s In:

1. Collins – Easily one of the most complete teams we saw last season, but shot themselves in the foot in the playoffs. Key components are back on both sides of the LOS including QB Tyler Stehling (Rice) and RB Shane Rhodes (Boise St.).

2. Oak – Quarterbacks are such a big key to success at this level and the Panthers have a great one in Nicky Baratti (Notre Dame). They can’t afford too much drop off defensively from last year as they reload around LB AJ Hilliard (Arizona).

Fighting It Out:

3. Forest - Is this a reach? We have the utmost confidence that a healthy Matt Davis (Texas A&M) leads the Golden Eagles to the playoffs. He’s that special. The defense does have a little work to do though to ensure that happens.

4. DeKaney - It seems like every school in this district is led by a top notch prospect and Dekaney’s RB Trey Williams (Texas A&M) fits the bill. 11 returning starters puts them in great position to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in school history.

5. Tomball – The Cougars were picked dead last in the district before 2010 and they showed us all up by going 10-3. We expect a healthy six team battle for playoff spots and Tomball to be in the thick of it. QB Justin Dvorak should have a big year.

6. Klein – Heading into 2011 with an inexperienced squad. HC Shane Hallmark knows how to win and has a guy like LB Ben Weaver (Boise St.) who’s won a lot in his career. We’re certainly not counting out the Bearkats.

Work to do:

7. Westfield – six year playoff streak broken last season
8. Spring – a ways to go before competing in this deep district
Klein Collins (11-1, 7-0)
Klein Oak (8-4, 5-2)
Tomball (10-3, 5-2)
Klein (8-4, 4-3)
Spring Westfield (6-4, 3-4)
Spring Dekaney (6-4, 3-4)
Klein Forest (2-8, 1-6)
Spring (2-8, 0-7)
1. Klein Collins: + 13.4
2. Klein Oak: + 8.3
3. Spring Dekaney: +4.3
4. Tomball: + 1.0
5. Spring: + 0.0
6. Spring Westfield: – 0.1
7. Klein: – 0.5
8. Klein Forest: – 1.1
1. Klein Oak: – 8.3
2. Spring Dekaney: – 8.2
3. Tomball: – 7.5
4. Klein Collins: – 7.4
5. Klein: – 7.1
6. Spring Westfield: – 4.1
7. Klein Forest: + 4.6
8. Spring: + 12.0

2. Lufkin (2201) *DIV 2
3. Conroe Oak Ridge (2685) *DIV 1
4. Hum. Kingwood (2580) *DIV 2
5. TW College Park (2565)
6. Humble Atascocita (3210)
7. Conroe (3047)

How we fared in 2010…

2. Lufkin (2)
3. Conroe Oak Ridge (5 )
4. Humble Kingwood (4)
5. TW College Park (6)
6. Humble Atascocita (3)
7. Conroe (7)

Offensive MVP:
RB Jamarcus Walker, Sr., Lufkin

Defensive MVP:
DL Tommy Mark, Sr., Lufkin

Who’s In:

1. The Woodlands – Another year, another Highlander team heading into the season with high expectations. They only list five returning “starters”, but many more have played significant minutes. A road trip to Old Abe will be the decider.

2. Lufkin – The Panthers lit up the scoreboard last year behind the talents of QB Bush Smiley. He moves on, but they gain back a healthier RB Jamarcus Walker. All-stater Tommie Mark will help the Panthers get back to playing defense like they used to.

3. Oak Ridge – Four of the last five years has resulted in a playoff trip for the War Eagles. In those years, they’ve finished right around the .500 mark in district. With 10 starters back, this could be their best year since moving up to 5A in 2004.

Fighting It Out:

4. Kingwood - The Mustangs were a combined total of 17 points away from 6-0 in the district last season. Players like DE Tony Winslow (6’2 230), RB Kade Harrington (4.4) and TE Grant Davis (6’3 257) should be enough to get back the playoffs.

5. College Park – Looking for their first trip to the playoffs since 2007. We shouldn’t underestimate the impact a returning QB can provide and the Cavs have one in Zach Wright. Still not sure if there’s enough around him to challenge for the 1-3 spots.

Work to do:

7. Atascocita - finding this district difficult post-realignment
8. Conroe - need a big effort to turn around 1-9
The Woodlands (10-1, 6-0)
Lufkin (9-2, 5-1)
Conroe Oak Ridge (6-5, 3-3)
Humble Kingwood (3-8, 3-3)
TW College Park (3-7, 2-4)
Humble Atascocita (3-7, 1-5)
Conroe (1-9, 1-5)
1. Lufkin: + 17.7
2. The Woodlands: + 9.1
3. Conroe Oak Ridge: + 6.5
4. Humble Kingwood: – 2.4
5. College Park: – 9.6
6. Humble Atascocita: – 10.2
7. Conroe: – 13.5
1. The Woodlands: – 5.0
2. College Park: + 1.9
3. Conroe Oak Ridge: + 2.9
4. Lufkin: + 3.3
5. Humble Kingwood: + 3.9
6. Humble Atascocita: + 4.8
7. Conroe: + 9.7

1. Austin Bowie (2772) *DIV 1
2. Austin Westlake (2482)  *DIV 1
3. Austin Anderson (1977) *DIV 2
4. Austin High (2398) *DIV 2
5. Del Valle (2423)
6. Austin Akins (2651)

How we fared in 2010…
Actual Finish (Projected Finish)

1t. Austin Anderson (4 )
1t. Austin Bowie (2)
1t. Austin Westlake (1)
4. Austin High (3)
5. Del Valle (5)
6. Austin Akins (6)

Offensive MVP:
WR Cayleb Jones, Sr., Austin High

Defensive MVP:
DB Dontae Harris, Sr., Bowie
Who’s In:

1. Bowie - Coach Ables’ group showed flashes of what they’re capable of late in the year with wins over Westlake, Georgetown and Klein Collins. DE Hopkins, DE Clark, LB Jackson, DB Harris and DB Boldt all return to make a salty defensive unit…better.

2. Westlake – The Chaps have a little work to do to rebuild their depth after losing 51 lettermen from last year’s team. If anyone can do it quickly, Coach Allman can. Similar to Bowie, shoring up the offensive line is the first order of business.

3. Anderson – The Trojans earned a taste of the big-time last season behind a break-out 10-2 season. Time will tell how much the resignation of Coach Reiland effects the team. They do have an advantage over the district as far as experience on the OL.

Fighting It Out:

4. Austin High - It’s no secret who will get the ball and get it often…1st team All-State WR Cayleb Jones (Texas). Although there’s quite a bit of work to be done around him, the Maroons should be able to secure a playoff spot in this six team district.

5. Del Valle – You can’t rule anything out in a six-team district because a team only needs two wins to advance. The Cards narrowly missed out last season and return quite a few skill guys that could make the difference. Lost top junior DB to 4A Bastrop.

Work to do:

6. Akins – winless in 2010 and low on numbers heading into ’11
Austin Anderson (10-2, 4-1)
Austin Bowie (8-5, 4-1)
Austin Westlake (6-5, 4-1)
Austin (4-7, 2-3)
Del Valle (2-8, 1-4)
Austin Akins (0-10, 0-5)
1. Austin Westlake: + 5.3
2. Del Valle: + 0.0
3. Austin Bowie: – 0.2
4. Austin Anderson: – 0.4
5. Austin: – 3.3
6. Austin Akins: – 7.1
1. Austin Bowie: – 6.7
2. Austin Westlake: – 5.1
3. Austin Anderson: – 2.5
4. Austin: – 0.3
5. Del Valle: + 5.5
6. Austin Akins: + 12.4

4. Georgetown (2908.5) *DIV 1
5. Pflugerville (2282)
6. Round Rock (2625)
7. RR McNeil (2933)

How we fared in 2010…

2. Leander (2)
3. RR Westwood (4)
4. Georgetown (7)
5. Pflugerville (3)
6. Round Rock (5)
7. RR McNeil (6)

Offensive MVP:
QB Ben Johnson, Sr., Westwood

Defensive MVP:
LB Marcos Curry, Jr., Stony Point
Who’s In:

1. Stony Point - One of the most successful teams over the course of the last three seasons must now reload, especially on the offensive side. The names may not be familiar now, but they will be by the end of the year.

2. Westwood - If anyone has what it takes to snatch a district title from Stony Point, it’s the 2011 Warriors. A dual-threat star at QB, skill talent, strong O-line and nine starters back on the district’s second best defense from last season.

3. Leander - The Lions have qualified for the playoffs in eight of the last 10 seasons. WR Nico Brown (6’4 200) and all-state DB Martel Summers (6’1 190) gives the Lions a solid foundation for another playoff run.

Fighting It Out:

4. Georgetown - The Eagles are on the up with quality experience returning on each side of the ball from last year’s playoff team. Specifically, the defense should see significant improvement behind the strength of seven returning starters.

Work To Do:

5. Pflugerville – replacing Storm Woods (Oregon St.) is a priority
6. Round Rock – needs to build on non-district showing in ’10
7. McNeil – Junior RB/LB Daniel Williams is a player to watch
RR Stony Point (14-1, 6-0)
Leander (7-6, 5-1)
RR Westwood (5-6, 4-2)
Georgetown (5-6, 3-3)
Pflugerville (5-5, 2-4)
Round Rock (2-8, 1-5)
RR McNeil (1-9, 0-6)
1. RR Stony Point: + 13.7
2. Pflugerville: + 6.9
3. Leander: + 2.7
4. Georgetown: + 2.5
5. RR Westwood: + 0.0
6. RR McNeil: – 7.6
7. Round Rock: – 9.8
1. RR Stony Point: – 13.6
2. RR Westwood: – 7.9
3. Leander: – 5.1
4. Round Rock: + 0.6
5. Georgetown: + 3.5
6. RR McNeil: + 8.0
7. Pflugerville: + 11.9

TALENT, ok skyline has it, but when will they step up and make it to the big game. when will they play better and get in to the, allen, trinity, stony point, class. samples proved he can coach when he was at lincoln high school. time to make that move !!!
