Who’s In:1. Americas – Led by Boise State commit RB Jack Fields and seven starters back from the district’s top defense a season ago. Face Montwood, Coronado and El Dorado all at home.2. Montwood - Rocha’s gone, but the Rams always seem to produce another star after one leaves. Montwood will be right in the thick of the race.3. Coronado - The T-Birds enter the season looking for new names to step up, but expectations remain high.Fighting it out:4. El Dorado – One of the more talented teams in El Paso on a yearly basis, inexperience will play a part early.5. Franklin – They seem to make the playoffs every year, but they’ll certainly have to earn it once again.Work to do:6. Hanks – Outscored 40-186 against the top five last season7. Bel Air – RB Nunez returns to pace the Highlanders 8. Eastwood – Finished 2010 on a seven game losing streak 9. Socorro – Young team finished winless last season |

Who’s In:1. Amarillo - The Sandies enter 2011 looking for their third straight district championship. The district leader in defense by a large margin last season has a little rebuilding to do early on.2. SA Central- Central finished the year on a real positive note winning four of their last five en-route to a second round berth. 14 starters returning has them positioned for a shot at a district title.3. Tascosa - Alternatively, the Rebs finished losing three of four including a loss to Central. Tascosa’s defense relative to the rest of the district should keep them in the thick of the race.Fighting it out:4. Coronado - Between 10 starters back on offense and a new head man, there is reason for optimism moving forward. Defensive improvement is the first priority.5. Monterey – Starting over on offense, but have six starters returning on defense. The Plainsman beat Coronado by one point at home last season.Work To Do:6. Lubbock – A new head coach, hopes for the Westerners. |

Who’s In:1. Cooper - Top signal-caller QB Clayton Nicholas (Texas Tech) returns and will be surrounded by a wealth of talented youngsters. The Cougs are in for a deep run in the D2 bracket and are clear-cut favorites for the 3-5A title.2. Abilene - The Sims era makes way for a new group to add to the rich Eagle tradition. Don’t expect a “down” year for the black and gold. They reload, not rebuild.3. Midland - Expectations are high for Coach Yenzer’s squad following an 11-2 season. DE Dutton Watson (Texas Tech) and a strong, experienced offensive line provide the foundation for another run at a Little SWC title.Fighting It Out:4. Lee - The Rebels narrowly missed out on the final playoff spot last season after losing four of their last five. The difference was a combined 11 point losing margin against Midland and Cooper.5. Permian – Mojo going winless in district last season was a shocker. A program with their tradition will simply not allow that to happen again, but can they nab the fourth spot?6. Odessa - The Bronchos’ must establish a new identity following the graduation of star RB Bradley Marquez (Texas Tech). In a six-team district, the margin between playoffs and last place is very small. |

Who’s In:1. Martin - The Warriors lived up to expectations last season by going undefeated in district. More of the same is expected in 2011 with ridiculous talent back on defense and emerging talent on offense such as junior RB Kyle Hicks.2. Bowie - You’d be hard-pressed to find a better quarterback-running back combo than Kolby Listenbee (TCU) and Russell Hansbrough (Arizona St.). The Vols are knocking on the door of the statewide top 25.3. Arlington - One thing this Colt team won’t be lacking is experience. Coach Peach has a total of 19 starters returning including several young prospects. Josh Greer at QB will be key.4. Lamar - All things considered, Coach Fuller did a great job following a coaching legend. DL Derrick White, LB Deandre Wilson and S Paris Watson return to lead the Vikings to another playoff appearance.Work to do:5. Weatherford – experienced Roos should produce results6. North Crowley - athleticism keeps opponents on their toes 7. Sam Houston – replacing star QB Jamal Turner will be difficult 8. FW Paschal – winless in district last season |

Who’s In:1. Cedar Hill – Once again, the Longhorns are the favorite. Replacing QB Driphus Jackson is the only thing that could slow this team’s progress. Expect break-out seasons from junior RBs Laquvionte Gonzalez and Jared Rayford.2. South Grand Prairie – QB Jared Johnson headlines a very experienced and talented football team. This should help them shake off the inconsistencies of last season and challenge for the top spot.3. Mansfield - Yet another very talented team that is a legitimate contender for a district title. QB Jerod Evans, DE Hassan Ridgeway, and junior S George Baltimore are big-time.4. Duncanville - Transfer in of QB DeAndre Grimes from Lewisville makes a good offensive unit potentially a great one. Duncanville’s receiving unit ranks #5 preseason.Work to do:5. Timberview - must build on successful 1st year at the 5A level6. Midlothian - talent is there to really push the top of the district 7. Legacy - a tougher time adjusting to 5A, but talent is there 8. Grand Prairie – feed top WR Devonte Lacy as much as possible |

Who’s In:1. Euless Trinity – As per usual, the Trojans have everything they need to make another state championship run. The focus on offense shifts from Brandon Carter back to a stable of running backs. Talent and experience on defense is a big strength.2. Colleyville Heritage – Outside of the Trinity (L 7-42) and Richland (W 31-24) games, the Panthers handled the district with ease. Several standouts on defense among 11 starters returning should keep them in a strong position.Fighting It Out: 3. Hurst Bell – Mauro and Farrow move on, but QB Kyle Romano brings more of a dual-threat to the table. Whomever steps in for Farrow has the luxury of running behind OL Kimo Tipoti (Texas A&M).4. Grapevine - An inexperienced Mustang squad narrowly missed the playoffs last season. Improvement on both sides of the ball is expected and should be enough to nab the last playoff spot.5. MacArthur – Skill talent will be down from last season, but six starters back on defense should keep the Cardinals in the running for the final playoff spot.6. Richland – Not a ton of experience back on either side of the ball, however, LB Jeremiah Tshimanga (Oklahoma) and ATH Walker certainly gives them talent to rally around.Work to do:7. Nimitz - good down the stretch, but lose a lot of experience8. Irving - nine starters back from a struggling offense 9. FW Haltom – Vaitai brothers anchor the offensive line |

Who’s In:1. Coppell - Once again, the Cowboys have the look of a state title contender on defense. Young, emerging talent on the offensive side could propel them to the heights they realized last season. They have a tough district battle on their hands first.2. Denton Guyer – A winning mentality along with an abundance of talent is a lethal combination. Sophomore QB Jerrod Heard has big shoes to fill, but shouldn’t take too long to settle in with the weapons at his disposal.3. Southlake Carroll – The Dragons are back? The sky is the limit with this bunch that really came together last season. It wouldn’t shock us if they are tops of 7-5A come November. Junior QB Kenny Hill is in for a monster season.Fighting It Out: 4. Central - The Chargers have a real chance to improve greatly this season with experience back at QB and some top talent on the field…OL Simon Goines (Missouri), ATH Zach Sanchez (Baylor), and DB Martin Alvarez (1st AD).5. Northwest – The Texans narrowly edged out Central by three points for the final playoff spot last season. These guys came a long way from their winless ’09 season.Work to do:6. Fossil Ridge – experienced group could sneak into the picture7. Keller – WR Cameron Martin is the go-to guy on offense 8. Saginaw – struggled outside of a three-point loss to Fossil Ridge |

Who’s In:1. Allen - The consensus state #1 is the clear leader in a district deep with talent and good programs. Heading into the season, the Eagles are the most complete team.2. Marcus - Don’t sleep on the Marauders. Despite losing some serious firepower at RB, Giddens is back and sophomore QB Cole Erwin has a bright future. The defense will be among the top 3 in the district again.Fighting it out:3. Plano - The Wildcats led the district in defense last season, but only bring back three starters. There will likely be a little drop-off, but the offense should be improved.4. Hebron - A one-point loss in Week 10 kept the Hawks from making the playoffs last season. Some injuries to key players stalled their progress a bit, but the talent is certainly there to bounce back quickly.5. Flower Mound – This team relied on outscoring opponents last season, but record setting QB Paul Millard (West Virginia) is gone. They’ll need a little bit more from an experienced defense to secure a playoff spot in this district.6. Plano East – QB Corey Wesley returns to lead the Panther offense after a 20+ touchdowns last year. That kind of experience and production under center can carry a team to the playoffs.Work to do:7. Plano West – significant improvement needed after 0-7 in ’108. Lewisville – experienced group, but star QB transferred out |

I thought Cedar hill and Duncanville were co-district champs last year.
