Trinity has established themselves one of the best 5A programs in recent history (see above) with three state championships in the last six years (2005, 2007, 2009).  Trinity has recorded seven straight seasons of at least 10 wins.  The Trojans haven’t had a losing season since 1997.  It doesn’t matter who graduates, the Trojans will be a contender every year it seems.

SCHEDULE

8/26 vs. Tyler Lee

Trinity shut the Red Raiders out last season.  However, Lee brings no shortage of talent to the game and junior RB Laquintas Wallace will give the Trojan D it’s first test.

9/2 vs. Abilene

This game replaces last year’s blowout of Shiloh Christian (AR).  The Sims twins have moved on, but there’s still plenty of talent on the roster that could cause some issues.

9/29 @ Hurst Bell

It’s difficult to pick out a district opponent that could give Trinity fits, but we’ll go on the road with Hurst Bell.  Bell senior OL Kimo Tipoti and the Trojan defensive front should be a matchup to watch.

2011 Schedule:
8/26 vs Tyler Lee
9/2 vs Abilene
*9/9 vs NRH Richland
*9/16 @ Irving
*9/23 vs Colleyville Heritage
*9/29 @ Hurst Bell
*10/7 vs FW Haltom
*10/14 @ Irving Nimitz
*10/21 vs Grapevine
10/28 Open
*11/3 @ Irving MacArthur

THE BOTTOM LINE

Offense: Opponents may feel like they can exhale a little bit after the departures of Tevin Williams and Terrence Tusan.  Do so at your own peril.  Akuila Eteaki (’03, ’04), Dimitri Nance  (’03, ’04,’05), LaDerrick Handy (’05), Justise Campbell and Shannon Moore (’06), Samir Baker (’07), Tray Robinson (’07, ’08, ’09), Tevin Williams (’08, ’09, ’10), Terrence Tusan (’09, ’10)….next up: Joel Kimpela (’10, ’11).  The only real question mark at this point is solidifying the quarterback position after a year of utilizing Brandon Carter’s extraordinary skills.  The offensive line and overall ground game affords Trinity all of the time they need to get this done.

Defense: Senior all-state linebacker Brian Nance is as experienced and talented as you’ll get at this level.  When you have the big bodies up front like Trinity, that really frees up guys like Nance and Richardson to fly around and make plays.  Secondary was a big question mark at this point last year.  Fast forward to today and the Trojans return three out of four starters, including two 1st team all-district players.  This should serve them well against DFW offenses. As you can see above in the program table, it has been a long time since Trinity fielded anything less than a top 20 defense.

Overrated if: There’s struggles at the quarterback position. Trinity doesn’t need their quarterback to be a star, but will need consistency and leadership.

Underrated if: As previously mentioned, Trinity won state championships in 2005, 2007, and 2009.  See the pattern here?  Well, it’s another odd numbered year…

The Trinity Trojans i think will be pretty good coming into 2011. i agree the only question is at QB but i think Steve Lineweaver will have all figured out by the time the season starts. Kautai might need to be the starter he played very well in the regular season in 2010. Lots of depth across the board with another mammoth O-line the Trojans should be just fine.
