1. Converse Judson * – Eight returning all-district players put Judson at the top of our projections. This looks like the strongest Rocket team in a few years.
2. Cibolo Steele – The Knights move into 5A after a successful inauguration in 4A. Steele could emerge as a threat in both district and region.
3. New Braunfels – The Unicorns advanced to the state semis out of 26-5A last year. They should contend for a top spot this year despite graduation hits.

Fighting It Out:

4. SA Wagner * – defensive foundation key to another postseason.
5. San Marcos – two sub par seasons after nine straight in playoffs.

Work to Do:
6. Seguin – third straight 2-8 season last year, an uphill battle in 5A.

2. SA Madison * – The Mavs didn’t meet expectations last year, but have a chance to atone with the return of senior RB Aaron Green. Madison has qualified for the playoffs in eight of their last nine seasons.

3. SA MacArthur – very young in ’09, ready to take the next step.
4. SA Roosevelt * – Roughriders never lack talent, will be in the mix.
5. SA Johnson – new school improved from 1-9 to 5-5 last year.
6. SA Churchill – good enough defensively to make the top sweat.

2. SA Clark – The Cougars emerged as San Antonio’s top program in the last two seasons, but have some rebuilding to do under new leadership this year.

3. SA Stevens * – Stevens recorded its second ever winning season with last year’s 7-4 effort and could improve further with five all-district players returning.

4. SA O’Connor * – experienced and looking for eighth straight in POs.
5. SA Taft – lost out on a head-to-head tie break last year.

2. CC Carroll – Four returning first team all-district players should help put the Tigers in the hunt for the district title. A prospect improved dramatically due to realignment.

3. SA East Central * – East Central tries for its fourth consecutive trip to the playoffs. Must replace two key players in RB Chris Johnson and DL Torrea Peterson.

4. CC King – Realignment was very favorable for the Mustangs’ chances for playoff football in ’10. Last playoff appearance was in 2003.

5. South San Antonio – aim to improve on 2009’s one district win.
6. SA Highlands – 0-10 twice in the last three seasons.

6. Economedes – 12 returning starters provides reason for optimism.
