2. Westside * – The Wolves have quickly established themselves as one of the better Houston area programs since opening in 2000. A playoff appearance this season would be their eight in a row. 3. Madison – Having qualified for the playoffs in 19 of the last 21 seasons, the Marlins are a good bet to be in the show in ’10. A district title push isn’t out of the question either.
Fighting It Out:

Offensive MVP
QB Bruce Reyes, Sr., West Brook
Defensive MVP
LB Derrick Matthews, Sr., North Shore
|
Who’s In:
1. West Brook * – The Bruins turned things around with a very young team last year and should keep improving with experience. They will be a scary team to face come November. 2. North Shore * – The Mustangs have only lost three district games since the 2000 season (two in ’09). Lost by seven points to the Bruins in Week 10 last season. 3. La Porte – The Bulldogs have one of the region’s most underrated talents in senior RB Anthony Webb and junior LB Chad Sutherland. They are a legitimate dark horse for the district title.
4. PA Memorial – Shocked everyone by beating North Shore last year, but could produce similar results this season with an experienced squad back. The Titans will be improved on both sides of the ball.
Work To Do:
5. Sterling – four AD players may have Sterling in contention for POs.
6. Channelview – on the rebound from a 1-9 season |

Offensive MVP
WR Nathan Mourik, Sr., Memorial

|
Who’s In:
1. Deer Park * – The Deer have seven all-district players back and no Pearland or La Porte blocking the road (only two district losses in ’09).
2. Pasadena Memorial – The Mavs should contend with Deer Park for the district crown and qualify for their fifth straight postseason. ATH Nathan Mourik is the star of this district.
3. Pasadena Dobie * – Longhorns should secure one of the last two playoff spots. This will end a five year playoff drought. 4. South Houston – Realignment and talents like CB Leroy Scott (Texas) and junior S Ken Marshall have put the Trojans in line for their second playoff appearance since 1996. Work To Do:
5. Pasadena High – led by second team all-district RB Kris Ungaeta
6. Sam Rayburn – Senior OL Ben Montes is a top district lineman |

Offensive MVP
RB Rickey Lunford, Sr., Brazoswood

Who’s In:
1. Pearland * – The Oilers join a very competitive district and should challenge for a title with their returning experience. However, their hands will be full in 24-5A.
2. Clear Springs – Despite being a newer school, Springs has emerged as one of the area’s most talented programs. A well balanced team with top area talent makes the Chargers very dangerous.
3. Brazoswood * – The Bucs were one game away from a state semis appearance last year. Returning arguably the top offensive backfield in the state in RB Rickey Lunford and RB Marqualle Davis.
Fighting It Out:
4. Dickinson – 12 talented starters back, but can they hold off Creek?
5. Clear Creek – Tons of experience back, four years running in POs
